Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
