During a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Denver Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 win over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the late go-ahead field goal to secure the hard-fought win.
Despite recording nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 after giving up a safety in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards throughout the contest.
Nix, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Lutz's 27-yard kick with just over five minutes left.
In spite of their horrendous offensive display, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to score a possible victory. However Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn opted to attempt the conversion instead of calling on kicker Nick Folk for a long field-goal attempt.
Fields had difficulties throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the lowest in any game since 1998.
"Our passing game was non-existent," the coach stated after the game.
The running back surpassed 200 total yards for the consecutive week and rookie Ryan Fitzgerald made a 33-yard kick as time expired to give the Carolina Panthers a narrow victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Los Angeles Rams ended the first half with a goal-line stand and then quarterback Matthew Stafford guided them to two touchdowns to start the second half in their 17-3 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Daniel Jones passed for two scoring throws and the running back ran the go-ahead touchdown with 4:32 left, securing the Indianapolis Colts a 31-27 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
The quarterback passed for touchdown passes to his receiver and Cooper Kupp, and Seattle controlled the trenches on their way to a 20-12 victory.
The veteran quarterback passed for 235 yards and two touchdowns, and the Pittsburgh Steelers experienced little trouble in their decisive win over the Cleveland Browns.
The quarterback escaped the pass rush and found with his receiver for a long catch-and-run in the closing seconds, leading to Cameron Dicker's game-winning kick to secure the Los Angeles Chargers a 29-27 win.
Drake Maye threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns as the visiting New England Patriots beat the New Orleans Saints 25-19.
